You only need to make a document effective if you have selected "No" to the "Automatically make effective on approval?" setting on the properties tab. 

To Make A Document Effective

  1. Click on the "Make Effective" from your dashboard.
    Go to Workspaces > Your Actions > Approved

  2. Click on the check box beside the document name and click "Make Effective"
    Click on the document name to open the document, and click the "Make Effective" Button. 

  3. Enter your email address and password in the "Make document effective" dialog box and click the "Make Effective" button.

Note: If you use the Workspaces > Your Actions > Approved you can select multiple documents and bulk make effective the selected documents at the same time
